Throughout the twentieth century people have been vanishing without a trace. Where did they go, and what happened to them? Nobody knew.
Then, one day, they all reappeared. Every single one of them; each one of the forty-four hundred.
They are all exactly the same as the day they vanished; whenever in time that was. And they all now have extra-ordinary abilities.
The 4400 was cancelled by the network after four seasons, without really wrapping up the story line. Fans deluged the network with sunflower seeds (in a similar campaign to that which got Jericho a second season) but nothing doing - 4400 was consigned to TV history.
