Jericho started every episode with a message in morse code which often gave a clue to the episode or plot line of the show; and unfortunately that was often the best thing about this rather hit and miss series.

When a nuclear bomb drops near the small town of Jericho the residents struggle to survive (through an extremely short nuclear winter and mercifully little radiation sickness). The question is - who dropped the bomb and why?

The show was cancelled at the end of the first season and the network was inundated with nuts sent by fans in a campaign to reinstate the show (this being a reference to a quote from one of the characters in the final episode of season one). The campaign worked and the show was gifted a second season to work out all the questions that had remained unanswered.
