It's all very well speaking to God, but what happens when God speaks back?

Joan is given assignments by God (who appears to her in various guises of everyday folk) to help people... the trouble is Joan isn't sure if God is really talking to her or if she is just going crazy.

Despite critical acclaim and good ratings in the first season the ratings declined over the second season and the show was cancelled; just as a new evil character had been introduced and this was left unresolved.
