The first ever set of Asia-Pacific exclusives were introduced in 2002. These followed in the footsteps of the previously released Japanese exclusives (Sakura and Nipponia) - indeed the first set of Asia-Pacific bears included a pale pink bear, Sakura II. This set of Asia-Pacific flower bears were very much to be the base for the later state flower bears, solid colour bears with a flower embroidered on their chests. To get the full set proved to be quite easy as each bear was not exclusive to the country which it represented, each country also received a limited amount of the others in the set. This proved not always to be the case with later releases.

The third set of Asia-Pacific bears saw a return to the flower theme. These bears had the flowers printed into their fur!
