In Summer 2002 a new set of Birthday bears was introduced, starting this time with August, these are traditional style bears, wearing a party hat; they have a wrapped gift, with the month they represent below on their chest. They still have the gemstone noses of the first generation of birthday bears, however. Instead of representing the birthstone of their month, this new generation of Birthday Bears instead share their month of birth with some selected celebrities. These bears are variously known as Birthday Bears with hats, New Birthday Bears, or sometimes as "2002" or "2003"  bears: e.g. August 2002. Following this series a third set was not introduced. However since then there have been six Beanies named "Happy Birthday" in a variety of sizes, shapes and colours - and also a "Happy Birthday" in the Beanie Greetings range. Click here for more info.
