In August 2001 a new concept arrived in Beanie Land. Ty Inc. teamed up with MBNA to provide a credit card. Users of the MBNA Ty credit card were automatically sent an MC Beanie the first time that they used the credit card.

The bear is a brown bear with red and yellow ribbons (the corporate colours of Mastercard) and has a Mastercard logo on his nose.

The bear comes in three variations, the variation being the colour behind the logo on the nose.

The bear caused much criticism, as it marked a distinct departure from the philosophy of affordable plush toys for children - to own MC Beanie you must hold the MBNA platinum credit card, and must, therefore be over 18 years of age.

Once again those residents outside the US were excluded from this offer.

One year later MC Beanie was retired, and almost immediately replaced by MC Beanie II. This bear is identical to the first, but instead of being brown was a golden/yellow colour.

After another year MC Beanie II was in turn replaced by MC Beanie III - an orange bear, and then a year later by MC Beanie IV a brown bear with coloured highlights, reminiscent of Kanata.

MC Beanie V  is longer 'furred' than his predecessors, and has one of the biggest bows ever seen on a Beanie!

The next version was MC Beanie VI who has a brown/orange mix in his fur and a fairly large orange bow.

MC Beanie VII has thick speckled fur, and the more 'traditional' mixed yellow and orange bow.

The current bear MC Beanie VIII is extremely orange!

In addition the the MC Beanies mentioned above there are also the MC Anniversary editions (currently on the 7th edition). These are sent to qualifying customers on the anniversary of the opening of their account. To qualify customers must have spent $5,000 in the previous 12 month billing cycle.

In 2006 there was also M.C. Beanie Key-clip introduced, to add to the increasing roll call of key-clip Beanies!

These conditions (owning the credit card, spending $5,000 in a billing cycle obviously make MC Beanie fairly hard to come by - not withstanding the fact that the bear available changes annually!)
